Crisp

  • 1 cup old-fashioned or quick-cooking oats
  • 1 cup sliced or slivered almonds
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cardamom
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 6 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into small cubes

Caramel Pears

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon ground cardamom
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 4 firm Bartlett pears (2 ½ pounds), peeled, halved and cored
The crisp mixture can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to three days before use.
