  • Juice of 1/2 lemon
  • Juice of 1/4 orange, plus one thin orange slice for garnish
  • 1/2 ounce (1 tablespoon) simple syrup
  • 1 ounce bourbon
  • Dash (about 1 teaspoon) of orange bitters
  • 2 ounces Prosecco (spumante)

Step 1Combine the lemon and orange juices, the simple syrup, bourbon and bitters in a cocktail shaker with a few ice cubes. Shake gently and strain into a martini glass. Top with the Prosecco. Float a paper-thin orange slice on top.

Note: From Karen Hatfield at Hatfield's. The restaurant uses Knob Creek bourbon for this cocktail. To make simple syrup, combine equal parts sugar and water in a small saucepan over low heat until the sugar completely dissolves. Allow to cool before using.
